How Working Students Affect Classroom Engagement: Examining the Challenges Faced by Grade 11 Humss Students
As part of our research on the challenges faced by Grade 11 Humss working students in their classroom engagement, we conducted a survey to gather valuable insights. This survey aimed to identify the obstacles these students encounter, the impact on their overall academic performance, and their perception of support services provided by their schools.
The survey consisted of twenty questions, carefully crafted to explore various aspects of their working student experience. The questions were designed in three different formats: single choice, multiple choice, and open-ended. This approach allowed us to capture both quantitative and qualitative data, enabling us to gain a comprehensive understanding of the students' situation.
The first set of questions focused on the hours worked per week, the level of workload, and time management challenges. By analyzing the responses, we aimed to assess the impact of work hours on their ability to engage effectively in the classroom. Additionally, we explored the difficulties faced during breaks at work and their impact on concentration and classroom participation.
The second set of questions delved into the specific challenges faced by Humss working students. Financial constraints, lack of time for studying, fatigue from work, and difficulty concentrating in class were among the options provided. These multiple-choice questions enabled us to identify the most prevalent and significant obstacles faced by the participants.
Furthermore, we wanted to gauge whether the students perceived their part-time job as negatively impacting their grades. This single-choice question allowed us to understand the students' own perceptions of the relationship between their employment and academic performance.
Through the open-ended questions, we provided an opportunity for the participants to share their personal experiences and opinions. We asked them to describe their specific challenges as working students and how they believed their job affected their academic performance. These open-ended responses provided valuable qualitative insights and allowed the students to voice their concerns and suggestions for improvement.
The survey also explored various aspects related to work-life balance, extracurricular activities, support services, financial assistance, future career prospects, family contributions, and self-care activities. By examining these dimensions, we aimed to create a holistic picture of the challenges faced by Grade 11 Humss working students and their perception of the support provided by their educational institutions.
In summary, our survey on the challenges faced by Grade 11 Humss working students aimed to shed light on the impact of part-time employment on their classroom engagement. By analyzing their responses, we hope to identify potential areas for improvement and develop strategies to support these students in achieving academic success despite their work responsibilities.
