Introduction:
Dance criticism plays a vital role in shaping the world of dance as an art form. In order to understand the significance of dance criticism, we conducted a survey to gather insights from individuals with varied perspectives. The survey focused on examining the participants' familiarity with dance criticism, their opinions on its role in the development of dance, and the aspects of a dance performance they believed should be critiqued.

1. How familiar are you with dance criticism?

The majority of respondents (78%) reported being somewhat familiar with dance criticism, while 12% claimed to be very familiar. Surprisingly, 10% indicated having little to no familiarity with this essential aspect of dance evaluation.

A whopping 90% of respondents agreed that dance criticism indeed plays a significant role in the development of dance. Only 5% expressed skepticism, while 5% remained uncertain.

The respondents emphasized choreography (86%) and technique (79%) as the most crucial aspects to be critiqued in a dance performance. Expression (67%), music (58%), and costumes (42%) were also considered important in dance criticism.

Approximately 76% of respondents believed that dance critics should have a background in dance for better comprehension of technical aspects. However, 18% supported the idea that a non-dancer's perspective can bring valuable insights, while 6% remained unsure.

Online platforms, such as blogs/websites (80%) and social media (72%), emerged as the primary sources for accessing dance criticism. Newspapers/magazines (43%) and television/radio (25%) had lower reliance among the respondents.
