Exploring the Popularity of Niche Sports
In the world of sports, there is a multitude of options beyond the mainstream. These niche sports may not receive as much attention in the media, but they have their dedicated communities and enthusiastic participants. To understand more about the popularity of niche sports, we conducted a survey exploring people's familiarity, participation, and perspectives.
The survey begins by assessing the participants' level of familiarity with niche sports. We ask them to rate their familiarity on a scale of 'Very familiar', 'Somewhat familiar', or 'Not familiar at all'. This will provide us with an overview of how well-known niche sports are among the general population.
Next, we dive into the specific niche sports that people have heard of. From options like Ultimate Frisbee to Synchronized Swimming, we want to gauge the range of awareness. Participants can select multiple sports they are familiar with, giving us insights into which niche sports have gained more recognition.
Following that, we inquire about personal participation in niche sports. Participants are asked whether they have ever participated in a niche sport, allowing us to understand the engagement level and potential impact of niche sports on individuals.
Those who have participated in niche sports are given an opportunity to specify the sports they have experienced. This data will paint a clearer picture of the variety of niche sports that people actively engage in.
To compare the appeal of niche sports to popular/mainstream sports, participants are asked whether they find niche sports more appealing. The provided answers - 'Yes', 'No', and 'Depends on the sport' - will help us analyze the preferences and interests of the participants.
Additionally, we explore the factors that make niche sports interesting to individuals. Options such as uniqueness, community atmosphere, opportunity for personal growth, less competition, and variety of skill sets required are presented in a multiple-choice format. Participants can choose as many factors as apply to them, and an open-ended question allows them to specify any other factors.
The survey then shifts focus to media coverage of niche sports. Participants are asked whether they believe niche sports should receive more media coverage. This question sheds light on the participants' perspectives regarding the exposure and recognition that niche sports currently receive.
Identifying the barriers preventing niche sports from gaining wider popularity is crucial. Participants are presented with options like lack of exposure, limited resources for promotion, limited accessibility, and lack of interest from the mainstream audience. They are asked to choose the most significant barrier from this list, and an open-ended question provides an opportunity to mention any other barriers that they perceive.
By conducting this survey, we aim to gain valuable insights into the popularity and perception of niche sports. The data collected will not only offer a comprehensive view of people's familiarity and participation but also identify potential factors and barriers influencing the growth of niche sports.
