Uncovering the Challenges Faced by Aspiring Entrepreneurs
In today's rapidly evolving world, entrepreneurship has become a popular career choice for many. However, aspiring entrepreneurs often face numerous barriers and challenges that hinder their entrepreneurial journey. To gain valuable insights into the perceived barriers, we conducted a survey titled 'Perceived Barriers to Entrepreneurship' among students. Let's delve into the results and explore the challenges encountered by these eager individuals.
The survey aimed to assess the perceived barriers and challenges associated with entrepreneurship among students. The questions covered a wide range of topics, including the level of familiarity with entrepreneurship, perceived barriers to starting a business, associated challenges, required skills, access to funding, and more.
The first question aimed to determine the participants' level of familiarity with entrepreneurship. The options ranged from 'Very familiar' to 'Not familiar at all,' allowing us to gauge their existing knowledge on this subject. The survey revealed that

Some of the major barriers highlighted were a lack of financial resources, limited business knowledge/experience, fear of failure, lack of support from family/friends, and limited access to networks/mentors.
When asked about the resources that would be most beneficial, the participants expressed a strong desire for access to mentorship programs, availability of funding/grants, business incubators/accelerators, educational resources (books, courses), and networking events.
Interestingly, while most respondents agreed on the importance of entrepreneurship education, they felt that educational institutions do not adequately prepare students for entrepreneurship. This perception highlights the need for improvement in entrepreneurship education to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge.
The survey also shed light on the positive aspects of entrepreneurship. Many participants perceived the freedom and flexibility of being their own boss, the potential for financial success, and the opportunity to make a difference as the biggest benefits of being an entrepreneur.
