The Impact of Online Gaming on Academic Performance: A Detailed Survey Analysis
Online gaming has become a prevalent activity among students, including Grade 12 students at Daniel R Aguinaldo National High School. To understand the relationship between online gaming engagement and academic performance, we conducted a comprehensive survey with various questions related to online gaming habits, study patterns, and perceptions. The survey revealed valuable insights into how playing online games affects students' academic performance.
The survey questionnaire included questions about the frequency of playing online games, types of games preferred, time spent gaming, parental approval, impact on academic performance, balance between gaming and studying, and more. Through the responses received, we were able to analyze the correlation between online gaming behavior and academic success.
Results indicated that a significant number of Grade 12 students engage in online gaming on a regular basis, with varying degrees of impact on their academic performance. While some students reported that gaming helps them de-stress and relax, others admitted to skipping study time for gaming sessions. The survey also highlighted the importance of time management and setting limits when it comes to online gaming.
Interestingly, students who participated in online gaming competitions showed improved problem-solving skills and hand-eye coordination, suggesting potential benefits of gaming beyond mere entertainment. However, concerns about excessive gaming leading to distractions and decreased academic focus were also raised.
In conclusion, the survey shed light on the complex relationship between online gaming and academic performance among Grade 12 students. By understanding students' gaming habits and attitudes, educators and parents can better support them in achieving academic success while still enjoying their favorite pastime.
The findings from this survey serve as a valuable resource for further research and discussions on the impact of online gaming on student performance and well-being.
